infosrilanka.lk : As the current JVP-led government remains mired in traditional political rhetoric and repressive tactics,
dragging the country backwards, the United National Party (UNP) under the leadership of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe is gearing up for a major technological revolution. In line with Mr. Wickremesinghe’s consistent vision that the country’s future must be based on digitalisation, the UNP has made all arrangements to launch the biggest technological operation in Sri Lanka’s political history, centred around the Sirikotha party headquarters, coinciding with Independence Day on February 4th.
While the present regime has driven the public service and administrative structure into a deep state of inefficiency, the UNP is introducing a new model for connecting with the public by merging its organisational strength with modern technology. The foremost step in this initiative is the appointment of a thousand ‘Digital Ward Coordinators’ covering all electoral divisions across the island. At a time when the government is attempting to mislead the public with false propaganda via social media, the UNP is working to directly link grassroots-level public issues and information with the party headquarters through the new ‘UNP App’ mobile application. This represents a potent technological challenge to the JVP government’s ‘traditional and narrow’ political agenda.
A crucial milestone in this digital transformation is the official activation of ‘Starlink’ high-speed satellite internet service within the Sirikotha premises. This technology, which Ranil Wickremesinghe facilitated for introduction to Sri Lanka through discussions with Elon Musk during his presidency, is now being used for the party’s political operations, proving that the UNP always brings the world’s most modern solutions to the country. Amidst the government’s ineffective internet policies and technological backwardness, Sirikotha is rapidly becoming the country’s ‘Digital Political Hub.’
