செய்யப்பட்ட சம்பவத்தில் கொலையாளி சுப்பையா( வயது 36) சிக்கினான்.
சுப்பையாவிடம் போலீசார் தீவிர விசாரணை நடத்தினர். அப்போது அவன் போலீசில்
பரபரப்பு வாக்குமூலம் அளித்தான்.அவன்,
’’எனது சொந்த ஊர் மணியாச்சி அருகே உள்ள பாறைகுட்டம். என் மீது பல்வேறு
வழக்குகள் உள்ளதால் போலீசார் என்னை தேடி வந்தனர். போலீஸ் பிடியில் இருந்து
தப்பிப்பதற்காக கடந்த சில நாட்களாக நெல்லையில் சுற்றி திரிந்தேன். எனது
மனைவியின் வீடு தாதன்குளத்தில் உள்ளதால் அங்கு சென்று தலைமறைவாக இருக்க
நினைத்தேன்.

Police are awaiting confirmation of rape from the post mortem examination report.the seventh standard girl was found behind the bushes in a isolated area near a railway crossing at Thathankulam. Relatives of the girl have begun a road blockade, demanding the arrest of the culprit, while police are pacifying them to withdraw the protest.
Police said that the girl Punitha (12) daughter of Soundararajan of of Kilarankulam near Seithunganallur had left for her school at Nazareth on Thursday, but did not return. Parents of the girl started searching for her on Thursday night. Even as they were continuing the search on Friday, they got information about an unidentified body of a girl in her school uniform behind the bushes at Thathankulam railway gate. The girl's parents found the body to be that of Punitha. By the time police too rushed to the spot and took the body to the government hospital
for post mortem examination. Police said they could confirm whether the girl was raped only after that, but parents and relatives of Punitha alleged that she was raped and murdered. Her relatives told the police that Punitha used to walk from her village till Thathankulam and take a bus from there to her school. She could have been dragged into the desolate bushy area and raped, they alleged.
