1952 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆசியாவின் அதிசயம் என்று அறியப்பட்ட இலங்கை எப்படி வீழ்ந்தது?

according to the 1952 World motor census compiled by the American Automobile, a publication for the automotive industry.
latest registration figures supplied for the census show that Ceylon has in operation this year a total of 54 828 motor cars, lorries and buses.

இதில் குறிப்பிட்ட அத்தனை நாடுகளுக்கும் நிலப்பரப்பு அளவிலும் சரி மக்கள் தொகை அடிப்படையிலும் சரி இலங்கையை விட பல மடங்கு பெரிது
அன்று சிங்கப்பூர் என்ற நாடு இருக்கவில்லை  மலயாவுடன் இணைந்த ஒரு பகுதியாகதான் இருந்தது.
இந்த அடிப்படையில் ஒப்பிட்டு பார்க்கும் பொழுது அன்று இலங்கை ஆசியாவிலேயே ஒரு வளம் பொருந்திய நாடகத்தான் இருந்திருக்கிறது.
இந்த பட்டியலில் உள்ள நாடுகளின் இன்றைய முன்னேற்றத்தை பார்க்கும் போது நமது நாடு அடைந்த வீழ்ச்சியின் தன்மை தெளிவாக புரிகிறது
மதம் ஜாதி மொழி வர்க்க பாகுபாடு போன்ற காரணங்களோடு  ஊழலும் மிக பெரிய அழிவை இலங்கைக்கு தந்திருக்கிறது  என்றுதான் கருதவேண்டி உள்ளது
